Quality
Guarantee of Quality
High - quality products need high – quality raw materials. That′s why we only cooperate with the best suppliers and logistics experts. Our buyers and our quality management select all suppliers and all raw materials according to strict criteria. As soon as the raw materials arrive at our company, we check them carefully in order to process them according to special requirements. This is how our freshly baked cookies are produced to always stay fresh: with the help of state of the art technologies and more than 65 years of baking experience.
Even though there is no necessity for a rapid turnover of our products, we set great value on rapid handling. Since we produce order-related goods the average storage amounts to maximally 15 days. We think:
The fresher, the better also applies to long-life bakery products.
We guarantee our customers:
- No artificial aromas
- No preservatives
- No dyestuffs
- No genetically modified ingredients
- No processing of animal products except for milk products and eggs.
It is understood that we pay attention to the compliance of all appropriate hygiene regulations throughout the entire production process.
Marion Bielenberg, Home Economist and Nutrionist:
»We have satisfied the "Higher Level" requirement of the ‹ des ›International Food Standard‹ for many years. We are especially proud of this.«
Certifications
The Cookie- and Waffle factory of Verden has enjoyed a high-level certification for years in accordance with the IFS (International Food Standard).
The International Food Standard is considered to be the world-wide benchmark for quality assurance in food production. IFS certified companies are examined carefully each year for two days by an independent, external auditor.
Frank Heise, Plant Manager:
»Each internal and external system enables us to make progress- a QM-system must be alive in order to be effective.«
Are you interested in what's going on behind the scenes?
There is an inspection of all procedures: From the receipts of the raw materials to all production processes, even including the control of the temperature of the trucks which are transporting the products to our customers. Each of these activities is documented in writing and naturally we have to furnish a complete chain of documentation within the framework of the audit.
Moreover, all work-and processing instructions are inspected and checked, quality objectives are scanned and questions are asked concerning the current food law and allergen-management.
An important part of this audit is the so-called backtracking:
A completely finished product is supposed to be tracked back through all the stages of sales, processing and production back to its beginning:
The auditor brings along one of our products, which was purchased in an arbitrary store somewhere in Germany. Naturally, we do not know beforehand which product is going to be backtracked. By means of the production- and the expiration dates which are printed on the packaging of this article we have to prove exactly which raw materials (e.g. flour, chocolate, etc) we received at what date from which supplier.
We further have to document the entire production methods for this article in writing just as we have to document the exact process of marketing it, meaning how the product entered the market.
For this backtracking, including the complete chain of documentation for all procedures there is a set time limit of only a few hours on the day of the audit.
Peter Blome, Product Development:
»We develop our new creations in our magic kitchen. That means we lock ourselves in for a few hours and only open the door if something is ready to be sampled.«
This year, we passed this inspection in the category "Higher Level" for the seventh time in a row and that with a performance quota of 99% – we are especially proud of that!
However, the most important standard for the satisfaction of our customers is our low rate of reclamations: It ranges about 0.0002% measured against the amount of sold packages. This is a sure sign that our quality management system is working effectively and each and every employee is implementing our goals each day for benefit of the end-consumer.
Our slogan is: We want the customer to return - not the product.
German Food Society e.V. (DLG)
The German Food Society is leading in the appraisal of foods and is one of the most important organizations concerning a neutral, independent appraisal of foods.
The DLG advocates the quality of production of foods on a basis of neutral and binding quality standards. Their understanding of quality is based on current scientific findings and self- developed, recognized methods.
With its international tests, the DLG is leading in Europe in quality appraisal and has been accredited according to international norms.
Each year over 20,000 domestic – and foreign foods are tested in DLG inspections. The distinction DLG-winning is only awarded to foods, which are sensorially flawless and thus fulfil the quality criteria of the DLG to an outstanding degree. Important criteria are the careful selection of the raw materials as is an optimal processing and preparation. Only when a foodstuff is above average will it receive the DLG distinction.
