Commitment sustainable palmoil
The Verden Cookie – and Wafer Factory Hans Freitag is a family enterprise founded in 1946 which specializes in the manufacture of long-life bakery products. Managing director and participating partner, Ms Anita Freitag-Meyer currently employs a workforce of approximately 330.
Last year we produced 26,500 tons of baked goods and wafers.
Our quality and wide range of products consist of more than 130 different articles that have been the cornerstone of our existing success as a private label, as well as a trademark of Germany’s leading food retailing businesses.
We look forward to becoming part of the RSPO organization (Roundtable on sustainable Palmoil) which stands for a sustainable and conscious way of thinking about the future. We are convinced that it will be a great challenge for us to realize these goals; however, by maintaining open communication to our suppliers, manufacturers and consumers, we believe this endeavor should be realizable.
Our current vision is to fully support the RSPO, at the latest starting in 2015, by utilizing exclusively sustainable palm oil that has been certified by the RSPO for the manufacture of our products. Our goal and our ambition lie in the sincere implementation of the concept of sustainability in our company ; we even hope to be able to put this vision for our product development into action before 2015. To reach this, we will all try to do our best.
We have been communicating the required PR work on our homepage www.hans-freitag.de, our blog www.keksblog.com, through all public statements as well as through our general corporate press releases. Additionally, we will make the information on dealing with sustainable, RSPO certified palm oil available to our commercial partners and to our employees. As far as it is compatible with European competition legislation, we pledge to all business partners (including raw material suppliers and trading partners) to provide them with our accumulated experience with the certified palm oil as well as becoming a member of the RSPO, to compare notes and to provide information and give support in case of queries and concerns with regard to certified palm oil.
As a responsible food manufacturer, we feel committed to the idea of sustainability. By becoming a member of the RSPO and by pledging to the exclusive use of sustainably produced and certified palm oil we would like to demonstrate our commitment to the principles of sustainability.
