The History of our Bakery
We have been pampering generations of cookie lovers with our creations.
It all began in the small town of Verden on the Aller, to be exact in the Grüne Strasse. The young Hans Freitag founded there on August 12, 1946 a bake- and pastry shop.
After merely two years in business for himself he already employed 30 people. The year 1949 represents a milestone in the development of our company. Hans Freitag invested in new steel band ovens and thus changed his business into a modern company.
From this time on, we have been concentrating on the production of cookies and wafers exclusively.

Hans Freitag, Managing Director:
»When I took over the company in 1973, I was barley 27 years old. With great enthusiasm I made it into what it is today. I am very proud and happy that I could pass on my love for our business to my daughter.«
Since the very beginning, the Cookie-and Wafer Company of Verden has been a family enterprise. After the unexpected passing of her husband in 1960, Anita Freitag took over the company. She in turn passed on the torch to her son Hans Freitag Junior in 1973.
Now, it′s already the turn of the third generation. Since 1991, Anita Freitag-Meyer has been managing the company.
